Is it 2010 already?

I haven't heard a lot of talk about resolutions, yet. Now, at 2010, we are firmly entrenched into the new century/millennium. I did hear someone say that we are now ten years into the millennium. Of course, that brought up the subject of when the calender actually start. To make it simple and to "cut to the chase"; I asked him when he counts to ten does he start with zero and end at nine or does he start with one and count to ten. Eleven is actually the beginning of the next group of numbers, not ten. 2001 began the millennium, not 2000. Also, being at work and in charge of maintenance, I get to hear about how hot/cold and damp/humid it is in here. Which gives me the opportunity to introduce into the conversation the actuality of the non-existence of cold. Cold is a relative term and isn't a quantity that exists Per Se. Actually we measure heat in greater or lesser degrees. There is a sun that produces heat but no ginormous ball of snow producing "cold". There is just heat and the absence there of. Once you remove all heat it cannot get colder. Placing ice in a drink uses heat energy to melt the ice to make it, um, less hot. As you can imagine, this discourse usually has the desired effect of boring whomever is hoping for more heat/cold; maybe even introduces the idea that such things are relative.

Work

Two hours into the new Year and I am at work. Happy New Year and all that. I've heard "spiritual predictors" saying great things are coming this year. Saying it in various ways. I feel persecuted. I never feel the "yoke" of this Earthly life so much as whenever I try to be disciplined in prayer or reading the Word. Is the point to focus on the "small, still voice" and just do my best with the rest of it? "To be in this world but not of it." Where do I apply my passion? I guess I need to discover my passion in the first place instead of trying to place it.

Jobless Rate and Governement run Health Care

Wow, with the unemployment rate above 10%, this is a great time to completely send our economy into the toilet with a new government run ginormous health care system! How many people do you personally know that is losing their job? And then the dollar can go to half price and think how much money your gold will be worth or your overseas investments! Nothing can be more fun then paying seven dollars for a gallon of milk. Maybe that's what I'll give for Christmas presents this year, milk and a loaves of bread. I can't get out of the grocery store as it is without spending 300 dollars for 5 bags of groceries. If you have a government job then you have a safe vantage point to watch everyone you know struggle more and more. Unless of course you're a diehard union believer. Remember, the car maker's unions were "too big to fail". We are really watching out for them. Why is that? Could it be that this is a special interest group leading our President around by the nose? Is it true that if you're receiving unemployment then they also pay for school? By they, I mean our taxes, of course. Is it really fair to keep my job with tax money subsidizing our mortgages? Instead of paying taxes I could just go around my neighborhood and gather money for my mortgage and health care insurance from my neighbors. It would be more efficient then letting the government handle our money. Stop the health care bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Global Warming is B.S.

Has everyone noticed that man-made global warming is just a sad politically motivated fad? How hot is it by you? Hmmm, maybe, just maybe weather is cyclic and goes up and down. And just where is Algore these days? Is he hiding till the next warm surge or maybe everyone around him realized that polar bears swim and swim well. How is that for an inconveinent truth?
